We’re a video marketing company. We don’t beat around the bush about who we are and what we do. We make videos and we help our clients figure out what to do with them and how to market their company. Our clients vary in size, market, products and services, and pretty much every other way you can differentiate companies. And we do a lot of non-profit video production. We work with non-profits on fundraising, recruiting, awareness, and so much more!
One of the non-profits we work with throughout the year is the United Way. From the Season of Caring to Volunteer Week to all of the awards presented to community leaders and members – and everything in between – we’re there. We see all the time and effort spent on giving back to our community. We witness people being the change they wish to see in the world. And we get to document all of it and share it with you – our friends, our neighbors, and our family.
United Way Humanitarian of the Year Award
United Way of the Midlands honors many people throughout the year with an award to highlight their contribution to our community. One of the award films we produce a video for every year is the Humanitarian of the Year Award. This is the highest honor the United Way of the Midlands can bestow upon the recipient. It is given every year to someone who “clearly demonstrates extraordinary leadership in philanthropic and human services” in our community. This year’s award recipient is James Bennett.
“Throughout my life, somebody always helped me. And so, that’s always been the motivation in me. To make sure that I do for others as others have done for me.”
James Bennett
When we started this video project, there was no shortage of stories and examples of why James deserved this honor. Everywhere we turn is another story of how James is helping others. He is truly embodying what it means to be a humanitarian.
What does non-profit video production even mean?
A lot of people don’t realize how much work goes into making the community they serve aware of all the work that non-profits actually do. The people who work at these non-profits are busy recruiting volunteers to help with the sometimes overwhelming amount of work necessary to keep moving forward. They’re planning fundraisers in order to pay for the programs that assist the community. They’re reaching out to corporations and other local businesses for assistance in furthering their mission – to better our community.
“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: what are you going to do for others?”
Martin Luther King Jr.
With all of this on their plate, it’s easy to see why they don’t focus their time and energy on telling the community what they do – they’re too busy doing it. Which is where we come in. When we do non-profit video productions, like the United Way’s Humanitarian of the Year Award video, we tell their story to the public. We showcase what’s been going on to benefit our community that people otherwise wouldn’t know about. Because the more the community knows about the groups and programs that are in place to help all of us, the more we as a community can come together to help these programs and groups thrive.
And there’s an old hymn in the Baptist church that we used to sing: “When it’s all over said and done, if folks would just say ‘may the work I’ve done speak for me’.”
James Bennett
